The 14th Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission announced on March 30 that it has selected three nominees for the county court judge vacancy created by the upcoming retirement of Judge Shane Vann of Panama City.
This development is significant as it marks the next step in filling a key judicial position, which will affect the administration of justice in the local community.
According to the commission, four members of The Florida Bar submitted applications for consideration. All applicants were interviewed by the commission on March 27 to assess their qualifications and suitability for appointment.
After completing interviews and deliberations, the commission agreed that Alicia Carothers, Blair Daffin, and Chelsea Stewart are highly qualified candidates. Their names have been forwarded to the governor for final selection.
The process follows requirements set out in both the Florida Constitution and state statutes. The governor will review these nominations before making an appointment to fill Judge Vann’s seat upon his retirement.
This nomination process underscores ongoing efforts to ensure that qualified legal professionals serve on Florida’s county courts.
