FloridaCommerce has issued a reminder to defense-dependent local governments and economic development councils representing local governments with military installations about the upcoming application deadline for two grant programs. The Florida Defense Reinvestment Grant (DRG) and the Florida Defense Support Commission (FDSC) grant applications are due by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on August 25, 2025. Applications must be submitted to DefenseGrants@Commerce.fl.gov.

The DRG supports community-based activities aimed at protecting current military installations, diversifying economies in defense-dependent areas, or developing plans for the reuse of closed or realigned military bases. These efforts may include strategies to help communities continue supporting the missions of their local military facilities.

The FDSC Grant Program is designed to preserve and protect Florida’s military installations through grant awards that assist with economic and workforce development initiatives. The program also supports planning and research activities intended to benefit military missions, businesses, servicemembers, their families, and retirees by enhancing Florida’s reputation as a military-friendly state.

Applicants seeking further information or assistance with the process are encouraged to contact DefenseGrants@Commerce.fl.gov. Updates related to the application cycle will be posted as an addendum on the Office of Military and Defense Military Community Programs page.
