Attorney General James Uthmeier’s office has successfully secured a guilty conviction against Deandre Devone Williams, who was charged with four felony counts related to the sexual abuse of a minor. Williams, originally from Illinois, traveled to Florida to commit these crimes.

“Thanks to our law enforcement partners and Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutors Emily Frazier and Johnna Lessard for bringing this sick predator to justice,” stated Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Child sexual abuse is heinous, and anyone who harms a child will be held accountable. Our office will continue prioritizing these cases and ensure those who commit such disgusting crimes face the consequences.”

An investigation revealed that Williams contacted a 13-year-old victim via social media, persuaded the child they were in a romantic relationship, and subsequently traveled to St. Augustine, Florida, to meet the victim. He then took the victim to Ft. Lauderdale, where he spent a weekend in a hotel with the child and sexually abused them. Following the incident, Williams abandoned the victim at a train station in Ft. Lauderdale, leaving the minor unable to return home.

Williams has been found guilty on counts of lewd and lascivious battery, traveling to meet a minor, and interference with the custody of a child. His sentencing is scheduled for May 2, 2025, in St. Johns County, where he may face up to 50 years in prison.
