Governor Ron DeSantis is set to lead an international trade and business development mission to France from June 16 to June 18. The mission aims to bolster Florida’s standing as a leader in aerospace, defense, and technology while expanding investment opportunities in the state.
The governor will attend the 55th International Paris Air Show, a major event for aerospace innovation featuring over 2,500 exhibitors from 48 countries and attracting more than 300,000 visitors annually. Over two dozen Florida-based companies will participate, showcasing their capabilities in aviation, aerospace, and defense.
Governor DeSantis stated, “Our next trade mission delegation is headed to France and the 55th International Paris Air Show. Florida’s focus on manufacturing, aviation, and the space industry already makes it a global leader in aerospace. Our efforts on this trip will be to promote further investment in our state and bring more high-paying jobs to Florida.”
Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly emphasized the state’s commitment to high-value industries: “Our presence at the Paris Air Show underscores Florida’s commitment to attracting high-value industries, supporting high-wage job creation, and expanding our global reach.”
Secretary of State Cord Byrd highlighted Florida’s relationship with France: “There has never been a better time to invest in the Sunshine State. From the Age of Exploration to the present, Florida’s longstanding relationship with France is built upon shared values and culture.”
Jared W. Perdue of the Florida Department of Transportation noted the importance of transportation: “Transportation is a proven economic driver, and Florida’s strategic planning and investing in world-class infrastructure is why FDOT remains a leader in transportation.”
The delegation accompanying Governor DeSantis includes several state leaders such as J. Alex Kelly, Jared Perdue, Cord Byrd; academic figures like Rob Long from Space Florida; Alexander Cartwright from University of Central Florida; Barry Butler from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; along with representatives from other universities and economic organizations.
Activities planned during the mission include meetings with companies across various sectors such as military, aviation, aerospace, and transportation; project announcements; a business roundtable focused on Florida; a business seminar; and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Florida Pavilion.
This initiative supports small and emerging companies by helping them access global markets through participation in the Florida Pavilion. The mission is coordinated by SelectFlorida in partnership with FloridaCommerce.
