The Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced on May 12 the arrest of Eddie Filce, 62, of Raceland, Louisiana, on multiple felony charges related to alleged crimes against minors.
Authorities said the arrest follows a statewide initiative by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to locate and apprehend individuals suspected of targeting children and sharing material depicting child sexual abuse. The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address online threats to minors.
According to officials, the investigation began in early April when agents conducted an undercover online chat operation. During this operation, investigators identified an adult male who was allegedly sending explicit messages, images, and videos to an undercover agent posing as a juvenile. The suspect was later identified as Filce, who is employed as a human resources worker with the Board of Regents for Higher Education.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Filce. On May 5, Louisiana State Police arrested him in cooperation with Florida authorities. He was booked into Terrebonne Parish Jail on an $85,000 bond and is awaiting extradition. The Office of Statewide Prosecution under Attorney General James Uthmeier is prosecuting the case.
Officials said that the investigation remains active and additional charges may be filed.
