The Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced on April 6 the arrest of Tyler Hooks, a 33-year-old resident of Port Richey, on 38 counts related to the possession of child sexual abuse materials.

Authorities said this arrest is part of a statewide initiative aimed at identifying and apprehending individuals who target children and share illegal files depicting their abuse. The effort underscores ongoing concerns about online crimes against children.

According to the department, the investigation began in October 2025 when agents discovered that an internet service user had distributed child sexual abuse material through a peer-to-peer network. Subsequent inquiries led investigators to Hooks’s residence.

Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Hooks’s home on October 30, 2025, seizing several electronic devices for forensic analysis. Investigators said one device contained additional illicit material and was confirmed to belong to Hooks.

Hooks was taken into custody by FDLE agents on April 1 and booked into Pasco County Jail with bond set at $380,000. The Office of Statewide Prosecution will handle prosecution for this case. Officials stated that the investigation remains active.
