The State of Florida and Williams International have announced a significant investment exceeding $1 billion in Okaloosa County. This project is one of the largest in Northwest Florida’s history. The aerospace and aviation manufacturer, Williams International, plans to build a high-volume aviation gas turbine engine manufacturing facility at Shoal River Industrial Park.

This development results from a multi-state search initiated by Williams International in 2023. The construction will occur in three phases, with the first 250,000 sq. ft facility set to begin later this year and complete by late 2026. Additional facilities are planned for 2028 and 2035/2036.

Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted the economic impact: “This billion-dollar investment is a major win for the Free State of Florida and for Floridians.” He noted that it would create over 330 jobs and praised the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund’s role in this success.

Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly emphasized the importance of partnerships: “Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, Florida continues to attract advanced manufacturing throughout the state—strengthening Florida’s economy, and creating opportunities for job seekers and job creators.”

Gregg Williams, Chairman, President, and CEO of Williams International expressed enthusiasm about expanding in Northwest Florida: “We are very excited about starting our next phase of growth in Northwest Florida.”

Triumph Gulf Coast Chair Jay Trumbull, Sr., commented on the project’s significance: “This is an exciting win for Northwest Florida’s growing aviation industry sector.”

Rob Long from Space Florida added: “Northwest Florida is proving itself to be a rising hub for aerospace activity.”

Commissioner Paul Mixon from Okaloosa County Board acknowledged the project’s long-term impact: “This is a monumental project that will have a lasting impact on both Okaloosa County’s economy and the entire region.”

Nathan Sparks from One Okaloosa EDC credited key partners for their support: “Today’s announcement is a true testament to the importance of preparation, partnerships and persistence.”

Williams International is headquartered in Pontiac, Michigan, known for its design and manufacturing of aviation gas turbine engines. The company has established highly integrated manufacturing facilities globally to support its commercial and military products.
