Attorney General James Uthmeier has initiated an investigation into a “Pride Tea Dance” event in Vero Beach, Florida. The event, which took place last month, is under scrutiny for featuring adult performances in front of children. Linda Moore, the Vice Mayor of Vero Beach and owner of the venue Kilted Mermaid where the event occurred, has been issued a subpoena as part of this investigation.

Uthmeier’s office is looking into claims that the event was advertised on social media as suitable for all ages but included performances deemed inappropriate for children. He stated: “In Florida, we don’t sacrifice the innocence of children for the perversions of some demented adults.”

The investigation focuses on determining whether Florida laws protecting children from sexualization were violated during the June 29 event. Reports suggest that performers wore revealing outfits and engaged with child attendees.

To aid in this inquiry, subpoenas have been issued to obtain surveillance recordings, employee work schedules around the date of the event, contracts related to performers and entertainers present at the venue on June 29, guest lists and ticket sales records, and documentation regarding security measures and age verification procedures.

Moore and her establishment must provide these documents by August 8 at 9:00 a.m.
