Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against three major medical organizations, accusing them of misleading the public regarding the safety of gender-affirming care for minors. The organizations named in the suit are the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy for Pediatrics.

According to a statement released by Uthmeier’s office, “Today, Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a lawsuit against the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy for Pediatrics for allegedly misleading public opinion on the safety of ‘gender-affirming care’ for minors.”

The complaint was filed in Florida’s 19th judicial circuit. The legal action claims that these groups have promoted treatments or procedures described by Uthmeier as “child mutilation.” Further details about the contents of the complaint can be accessed through official state resources.

This lawsuit follows ongoing debates across several states over medical care provided to transgender youth. Florida officials have previously taken steps to restrict access to gender-affirming treatments for minors.
