Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood, alleging that the organization misrepresented the safety of chemical abortion drugs to patients in Florida.

In a statement announcing the legal action, Uthmeier said, “It is vile that Planned Parenthood cares more about lining their pockets than providing women with factual information about the health risks of chemical abortion drugs. When it comes to health and safety in Florida, we won’t tolerate blatant lies using fabricated medical ‘facts’ that have no scientific basis.”

The lawsuit claims that Planned Parenthood made false statements regarding abortion drugs, including assertions that such drugs are “safer than Tylenol.” According to the Attorney General’s office, this claim has been disproven by multiple studies and expert testimony. The complaint also states that Planned Parenthood continues to promote these statements across different platforms.

The suit further alleges that Planned Parenthood profits from chemical abortions and distributes abortion pills through mail without requiring in-person consultations. The Attorney General argues these actions violate both the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and the Florida RICO Act.

Uthmeier is seeking statutory penalties, punitive damages, and injunctive relief aimed at protecting consumers. The full lawsuit was filed in the First Judicial Circuit.
