The Florida Department of Education has announced a significant milestone in its efforts to enhance workforce education across the state. On May 19, 2025, Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. revealed that $12 million has been allocated through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP) to bolster eight workforce education programs. This investment is aimed at equipping students with essential skills in agriculture, healthcare, and technology sectors.
This latest funding round brings the total investment in workforce education initiatives under Workforce CAP to $200 million since the program began in 2023. The initiative underscores Florida’s dedication to developing a highly skilled workforce.
Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. emphasized the importance of these investments: “Under Governor Ron DeSantis’ steadfast leadership, Florida has prioritized investments in career and technical education which lead to economic success for our students and our economy.” He added that this $12 million allocation will enhance workforce education programs and create new opportunities for students pursuing high-demand careers.
The Workforce CAP funding is designed to support both the creation and expansion of workforce development programs throughout Florida. It offers high school and post-secondary students practical training in industries that are currently experiencing high demand.
Institutions receiving grants from the Workforce CAP Grant Awards benefit from funds that help establish and expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs leading to industry-recognized certifications on the CAPE Industry Certification Funding List. These resources ensure students have access to necessary tools and training for success in emerging industries, aligning with Florida’s economic growth needs.
