Florida’s educational landscape is poised for potential transformation as policymakers commence the 2025 Legislative Session. Over the next 60 days, legislators will address some of the state’s most pressing challenges.

The previous legislative biennium introduced significant changes in education policy, reminiscent of Governor Jeb Bush’s A+ Plan. These included universal school choice, comprehensive math policies, and stronger literacy initiatives that banned certain instructional practices. Other measures focused on improving pathways from education to workforce, limiting cellphone use in classrooms, regulating social media access, and increasing teacher salaries.

Despite these advancements, Patricia Levesque emphasizes that “success is never final, and reform is never complete.” She underscores the importance of maintaining momentum in educational reform efforts.

Recent data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress highlights an urgent need for student-centered policies. As Florida moves forward with its legislative agenda, there is a call to accelerate these efforts to ensure future success.
