Jake Johansson has received the endorsement of the Florida Chamber of Commerce in his campaign for Senate District 8 in the 2026 election. Johansson, a retired Navy Captain with 35 years of service, has also held roles as Port Orange City Manager and as a member of the Volusia County Council. His background includes work focused on families, local businesses, and broader community interests. He has expressed priorities such as addressing inflation, creating jobs, and building a competitive workforce.

Senate District 8 covers Volusia County and is regarded as a strong Republican district according to the Florida Chamber’s Partisan Performance Index. The district supported President Trump in 2024 and Governor DeSantis in 2022 by margins exceeding 60 percent.
The Florida Chamber stated it will apply its century-long political experience toward supporting Johansson’s campaign.
