Florida has moved up in the national rankings for manufacturing employment, now holding the 10th position. The state boasts 421,400 manufacturing jobs, marking an increase of 3,100 over the past year, a growth rate of 0.7%. This positions Florida ahead of Georgia by 5,600 jobs and places it within reach of North Carolina’s ninth spot with a gap of 29,700 jobs. Illinois remains significantly ahead at fifth place with a difference of 142,900 jobs.
The rise in employment is attributed to the state’s vibrant manufacturing sector and ongoing innovation efforts. “This momentum is a testament to Florida’s thriving manufacturing sector and the innovation happening across the state,” according to a statement from the Florida Chamber.
The Florida Chamber is promoting these achievements through initiatives like the Coolest Thing Made in Florida competition. This event celebrates products manufactured within the state.
As part of its goal to become one of the top five states for manufacturing jobs by 2030, led by FloridaMakes, there is encouragement for manufacturers and industry leaders to continue fostering growth and supporting workforce development. The upcoming 2025 Florida Transportation, Growth & Infrastructure Solution Summit on December 3 in Orlando will further explore these topics.
“Together, we’re securing Florida’s future by strengthening our manufacturing industry and positioning the state as a national leader,” stated representatives from the Florida Chamber Foundation. These insights are supported by investments from their Community Development Partnership Council.
