The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is taking proactive steps to support businesses and consumers as the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season approaches. The season is set to begin on June 1 and will run through November 30.

“DBPR is proud to provide free resources for Floridians as they prepare for the upcoming hurricane season,” said DBPR Secretary Melanie S. Griffin. “Bad actors often use disasters as an opportunity to take advantage of Floridians, and we are committed to equipping businesses and consumers with the tools they need to protect themselves. As we approach another active hurricane season, Florida business owners and consumers are encouraged to utilize these resources to be prepared ahead of potential storms.”

To help homeowners and business owners avoid unlicensed contractors who may lack necessary training, experience, or insurance, DBPR offers a License Verification Tool available at MyFloridaLicense.com. This tool helps verify the credentials of professionals working on residential or commercial properties.

Floridians are also urged to recognize signs of unlicensed activity and report any suspicions through the Unlicensed Activity Hotline at (866) 532-1440, by visiting MyFloridaLicense.com, or via the DBPR Mobile App. Additionally, industry partners can use DBPR’s Unlicensed Activity Toolkit to raise awareness within their communities.

Another resource provided by DBPR is the Disaster Contractors Network (DCN), which connects homeowners with licensed contractors and suppliers for emergency repairs. Homeowners can access a directory of skilled professionals in their area by registering for free through DCN’s platform.

Licensed contractors and suppliers in Florida are encouraged to register with DCN, enabling them to connect with homeowners seeking reliable services during emergencies.
