More than 350 grassroots members convened at the state Capitol on March 18 for Florida Farm Bureau’s annual Farm Bureau Day. During the event, participants engaged with legislators to discuss significant policy issues such as the Florida Farm Bill, farm labor housing, a health benefit plan, and the protection of private property rights.

“Farm Bureau Day is a great opportunity to allow our elected officials to experience the variety of Florida agriculture and the economic impact our industry has on the state,” stated Tripp Hunter, Florida Farm Bureau’s Director of State Legislative Affairs. “Our grassroots members are the voice of our organization, and we enjoyed having them in Tallahassee to advocate for policies that impact their livelihoods, protect Florida’s natural resources and secure access to a safe and healthy food supply.”

The day concluded with the Taste of Florida Agriculture reception. This event allowed guests to sample locally grown foods, interact with farm families, network with public officials, and learn about Florida agriculture’s diversity. More than 1,200 guests attended this public reception hosted by Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb S. Smith and Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson.
