Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the introduction of Florida’s first Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday, which will run from September 8 through December 31, 2025. The initiative aims to provide financial relief to Floridians by suspending sales tax on items used for hunting, fishing, and camping.

“We’re committed to helping Floridians keep more of their hard-earned money, and the Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday is one way to do that,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Florida is a great state for outdoor adventure and exercising your Second Amendment rights, and we’re working to keep it that way.”

Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins added, “Florida leads the nation in protecting freedom, family, and tradition. This 2nd Amendment Sales Tax Holiday delivers real tax relief for families and ensures Floridians can pass down our values of to the next generation.”

FWC Chairman Rodney Barreto stated, “We appreciate Governor DeSantis’ steadfast commitment to these tax-saving measures that benefit all Floridians. I want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the outdoors.”

Florida has continued its trend of maintaining a low unemployment rate and holds a AAA credit rating from major agencies. Earlier in the year, Governor DeSantis signed the Fiscal Year 2025–26 budget with $2 billion in tax relief measures, including a permanent repeal of the Business Rent Tax and targeted sales tax holidays. The current package allocates $450 million specifically for sales tax holidays intended to support residents.

The holiday will remove sales tax on retail purchases such as ammunition; bows and crossbows with accessories; firearms like pistols, rifles, shotguns; firearm accessories; as well as equipment needed for camping or fishing within certain price limits. More information about qualifying items can be found at https://floridarevenue.com/HuntFishCamp.

In addition to free access at several shooting sports ranges throughout the year, half-priced range passes will be available at select public ranges during specific dates coinciding with national holidays. Veterans will receive free range passes at all locations on November 9th in recognition of Veterans Day.

As part of America250 celebrations, Florida will also offer its five-year Gold sportsman license—typically priced at $500—for $250 during this period.
