Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida achieved a record 15.5% share of the U.S. domestic vacation market in 2024. This represents a nearly one-point increase from 2023 and reinforces Florida’s status as the leading travel destination in the United States, a trend consistent since 2019. It marks the sixth occasion that Florida has surpassed its own tourism record under Governor DeSantis.

“Florida is the world’s favorite place to visit,” stated Governor DeSantis. “This record tourism is a result of policies that prioritize freedom, public safety, and common sense.”

Florida’s tourism performance is also notable on the international front. Early 2025 data shows a 0.5% rise in Canadian air visits, in contrast to a national 2.3% decline in U.S. travel by Canadians. Additionally, a 6.5% increase in overseas visits was observed, particularly from the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Argentina.

In February 2025, Governor DeSantis declared that Florida remains the top global destination, drawing a record 142.9 million visitors in 2024. This is a 1.6% growth from 2023, the previous record year. Additionally, Q4 2024 saw the highest ever recorded quarterly visitors, totaling 33.1 million. This was driven by 29.9 million domestic, 2.5 million overseas, and 742,000 Canadian tourists, underscoring Florida’s broad appeal.

Florida’s tourism industry remains crucial to the state’s economy and exemplifies success in the global travel sector.
