The Florida Senate has given its approval for Rodney Barreto to continue his role with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). His reappointment as Chairman is set to influence the organization’s direction in managing the state’s natural resources.
FWC Executive Director Roger Young expressed confidence in Barreto’s leadership, stating, “Chairman Barreto stays two steps ahead of the issues,” and anticipates that “Rodney’s conservation footprint will leave a lasting legacy for future generations.”
Barreto currently holds the position of President and Chief Executive Officer at the Barreto Group, Inc. and is a partner at Capital City Consulting Miami. His active participation in community organizations includes the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, the Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Council, the Florida Council of 100, the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, and he serves as Chairman of FIFA 2026. His previous experience includes ten years as an FWC Commissioner, during which the FWC established an annual Rodney Barreto Award to honor the Employee of the Year for outstanding achievements.
Before his corporate career, Barreto served as a City of Miami police officer. His educational background includes an Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Studies from Barry University.
