Florida has achieved a new milestone in tourism, setting an all-time record with 143 million visitors in 2024. This marks a 1.7% increase from the previous year. The total includes 130.65 million domestic travelers, 8.94 million overseas visitors, and 3.41 million Canadian tourists. These visits contributed significantly to the state’s sales tax revenue.
Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida welcomed 41.2 million visitors in the first quarter of 2025, reinforcing its status as a leading travel destination both nationally and globally.
“Florida’s tourism industry leads the nation,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “These results are proof that our freedom-first policies work—and that Florida remains the best place to visit, work, and raise a family.”
The first quarter of 2025 saw key highlights:
– A total of 41.2 million visitors.
– Domestic visitation accounted for 91.9%, with 37.9 million domestic travelers, up by 0.2% from Q1 2024.
– Overseas visitors numbered at 2.1 million and Canadian visitors at 1.2 million, representing 5.1% and 3% of total visitation respectively.
– Among domestic non-resident travelers, air travel accounted for 35.8%, while non-air travel was at 64.2%.
– Enplanements totaled at Florida’s major airports reached approximately 29.4 million, with notable growth seen at Punta Gorda (+23.6%), St. Petersburg–Clearwater (+7.7%), and Daytona Beach (+7.4%).
– Hotel performance showed a +2.4% increase in rooms sold; Average Daily Rate (ADR) rose to $227.22 (+2.2%), and occupancy hit a rate of +75.% (+1.%).
The ongoing growth in tourism underlines Florida’s broad appeal and economic impact by supporting jobs and businesses statewide.
