Florida Supreme Court JNC schedules meeting to discuss chair roles and court vacancy

The Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) has announced a meeting scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET on Monday, December 8, 2025. The meeting will be held via Zoom and will address the selection of new Chair and Vice Chair positions, as well as establish a schedule to discuss filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Justice Charles T. Canady.

Current members of the JNC include Chair Fred Karlinsky of Weston, Vice Chair Jesse M. Panuccio of Palm Beach Gardens, Heather Stearns of Tallahassee, Jeanne T. Tate of Tampa, Harout Samra of Coral Gables, Tim Cerio of Tallahassee, Charbel Barakat of Tampa, and Jason Gonzalez of Tallahassee.

The main topics for discussion will be leadership appointments within the commission and setting a timeline to address the judicial vacancy created by Justice Canady’s departure.
