Florida trucking championships recognize top drivers with multiple awards

Over 330 drivers participated in the 2024 Truck Driving Championships held in Daytona Beach, Florida. The event featured assessments across 11 classes, including a new category for FDOT Straight Truck. Awards were given for top performances in each class, as well as additional recognitions for Written Test, Pre-Trip, and Rookie of the Year.

The awards banquet saw over 1,200 attendees celebrating the winners alongside two Hall of Fame inductees and other honorees such as Small and Large Team Trophy recipients, Drivers of the Month, and Driver of the Year.

Acknowledgment was given to more than 100 volunteers who contributed their time and skills to ensure the event’s success.

In the 3-Axle category, Rusty Pederson from FedEx Freight Corporation took first place. In the 5-Axle category, Rifat Becirevic from Publix Super Markets secured first place and was also named Grand Champion. Joshua Ehret from Publix Super Markets won both second place in the 5-Axle category and Fleet Force Rookie of the Year.

The FDOT Straight Truck category was dominated by Dillon Steinborn from FDOT who claimed first place. A three-way tie occurred in the Written Test between Rebecca Nelson (FedEx Express), Henry Mahler (Oakley Transport), and Jottyn Santos (FedEx Express).
