The Foundation for Florida’s Future has released a statement recognizing the new leadership of the Florida State Board of Education. Ryan Petty and Esther Byrd have been selected as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively.

“We congratulate Ryan Petty and Esther Byrd on their selection to serve as Chair and Vice Chair of the Florida State Board of Education. Their leadership will be important as the state continues to expand education choice opportunities, improve reading and math outcomes, protect school accountability and maintain high student expectations,” stated the organization.

The Foundation expressed eagerness to collaborate with both leaders, along with newly appointed Commissioner of Education Stasi Kamoutsas. “We look forward to working with Chair Petty and Vice-Chair Byrd, along with recently named Commissioner of Education Stasi Kamoutsas, to continue to center Florida’s students and parents in the conversation about how we improve education in Florida.”

Additionally, appreciation was extended towards Ben Gibson for his tenure as Chairman. “We thank Ben Gibson for his service as Chairman, particularly his leadership helping to protect and expand education choice opportunities, improve school safety and ensure Florida students are equipped to meet the demands of our evolving world.”
