On July 4, President Donald J. Trump signed House Resolution 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, into law. The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA), a non-profit policy think tank, praised the passage of this legislation and its impact on tax policy, welfare programs, and government spending.

The bill is described by FGA as the result of several years of work that aimed to take advantage of a Republican majority in Washington. Through the reconciliation process, the legislation includes measures to control federal spending, secure the southern border, implement new requirements for welfare programs such as Medicaid and food stamps for able-bodied adults, make middle-class tax cuts permanent, and limit federal bureaucracy.

FGA President and CEO Tarren Bragdon stated: “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill extends middle-class tax relief, puts working families and the truly needy ahead of illegal aliens, creates badly-needed welfare work requirements in Medicaid and food stamps for able-bodied adults and builds on proven Trump-era policies that empower American taxpayers and will reinvigorate our nation’s economy.”

Bragdon added: “The historic One, Big, Beautiful Bill passed through the eye of needle but will echo through history as a monumental turning point for our country. Today begins the American comeback to restore our roaring economy, spur our nation to new heights of greatness, and allow everyone to thrive in a new, Golden Age of American flourishing.”

He continued: “The masterful work of President Trump, Vice President Vance, Speaker Johnson, and Leader Thune delivered victories that defied the odds and proved the doubters wrong. When the American Spirit of optimism, vision, hard work, and love of country is shared by our nation’s leaders, there is little we can’t accomplish. And they proved that again today. The American spirit and the American Dream are live and well in our great country.”

Bragdon concluded: “On this Independence Day, a renewed declaration was made: the era of big government is over. The Golden Age has begun. This is what the American people asked for and our leaders delivered.”

The FGA describes itself as an organization focused on promoting public policy solutions intended to expand opportunities for Americans.
