The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) has expressed support for former President Donald Trump’s recent executive order aimed at enhancing price transparency in healthcare. The executive order is designed to provide patients with clear pricing information, a move that FGA sees as crucial.

“Price transparency isn’t just common sense, it’s essential for protecting patients. Americans deserve to know the cost of their care upfront, without hidden fees or surprise bills,” said Tarren Bragdon, President and CEO of FGA. “Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, families will no longer be exploited by a broken health care system. He has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to putting Americans first, and we are grateful for his dedication to real health care accountability.”

This action follows previous efforts during the Trump administration when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services introduced rules in 2019 requiring hospitals to disclose prices of non-emergency services. This rule was intended to help patients compare costs directly from their smartphones. However, after its implementation in early 2021 under President Biden’s administration, compliance requirements were relaxed.

The Foundation for Government Accountability took legal action against the Biden administration over these changes and won lawsuits related to hospital transparency and prescription drug price transparency. The current executive order seeks to reinstate these transparency measures from Trump’s first term.

“FGA has fought tirelessly to hold the Biden administration accountable for failing patients in the health care system. We took Biden to court—and won—because Americans deserve transparency and accountability from their health care system,” Bragdon continued. “I’m grateful for President Trump’s dedication to transparency and empowering Americans.”
