The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is looking for a new contracted nuisance alligator trapper to serve west Osceola County. The position is part of the Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program, which aims to address public concerns about alligators in developed areas.

Applicants for the role must have experience handling alligators, pass a criminal history check, have no violations of fish or wildlife laws, and maintain a valid working email address. Applications are being accepted online until November 11. Interested individuals can find more information and apply by visiting MyFWC.com/Alligator and following the links to the Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program.

For additional questions, applicants are encouraged to contact FWCGator@MyFWC.com.

The FWC stated: “Although serious injuries caused by alligators are rare in Florida, the FWC places the highest priority on public safety.” The agency explained that contracted trappers help reduce negative human-wildlife interactions by removing alligators believed to pose threats to people, pets, or property.

Residents who encounter an alligator they believe may be dangerous are advised to call the FWC’s toll-free Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286). A contracted trapper will then be dispatched as needed.
