The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced the launch of the newly redesigned Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail website. This initiative aims to connect people with over 500 birding and wildlife watching locations across the state. The updated website can be accessed at FloridaBirdingTrail.com.

The redesigned platform offers an improved experience for residents and visitors interested in exploring Florida’s birding and wildlife opportunities. A significant feature of the new site is the “Find a Site” map, an interactive tool that helps users locate destinations based on their interests by entering place names, addresses, or selecting specific activities and amenities. For instance, users can easily find sites within 25 miles of Orlando for camping and bald eagle spotting.

Other features include updated trail location pages providing detailed information on over 500 wildlife watching destinations, including visit times, species to look for, directions, and habitat descriptions. Additionally, there are beginner resources offering guidance for those new to birding and wildlife watching.

The website also highlights Florida’s unique species and habitats through curated news, featured sites, and educational content. The new platform supports the Trail’s mission to foster conservation by creating deeper connections between people and nature.

The Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail is a program of the FWC, supported partly by the Florida Department of Transportation and the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida. It involves collaboration from numerous federal, state, local government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and private landowners.
