Indiana Governor Mike Braun has put forth a series of executive orders aimed at enhancing public health in the state. These orders form part of his agenda to “Make Indiana Healthy Again,” a campaign promise he has begun to fulfill with actions described as some of the most ambitious at the state level in the United States.
The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA), a multi-state think tank, applauded Braun’s measures. “It’s simple—the status quo on health and nutrition is failing Americans,” stated Tarren Bragdon, President and CEO of FGA. He continued to praise Braun, noting that “Governor Braun did what many leaders these days won’t – act boldly and swiftly in the interest of the people you serve. He’s now setting the pace for the rest of the nation to follow.”
Key figures present during the announcement included Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. Their support further underscores the significance of Braun’s health-focused initiative.
The governor’s agenda specifically seeks to reform Indiana’s food stamp system, aiming to curb welfare fraud and improve nutrition by limiting the availability of junk food within the program. Bragdon emphasized the importance of these reforms, asserting that “Hoosiers deserve a food stamp system that supports their well-being instead of supporting large junk food and soda corporations.”
The FGA continues to promote public policy solutions, aligning with efforts to reduce reliance on welfare programs and foster thriving entrepreneurship.
