In his speech, he emphasized Florida’s leadership and commitment to foundational American principles. “Florida leads,” he stated, highlighting the state’s approach to challenges and its achievements in various sectors.

Governor DeSantis reiterated the state’s stance on immigration, citing recent legislation that criminalizes illegal entry into Florida. He acknowledged Immigration Czar Larry Keefe and Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey for their roles in these efforts, asserting that “Florida will get the job done.”

The governor also highlighted Florida’s economic performance, noting its top rankings in entrepreneurship and GDP growth among large states. He pointed out that the state has maintained a lower unemployment rate than the national average for over 50 months.

On education, DeSantis praised Florida’s school choice program and announced an increase in funding for teacher salaries. He recognized Jaime Suarez as Florida’s Teacher of the Year and advocated for continued support of teachers through bonuses.

In terms of environmental efforts, DeSantis mentioned progress in Everglades restoration and wildlife corridor connectivity. He expressed dissatisfaction with federal government delays but noted cooperation from the Trump administration to expedite projects.

DeSantis addressed disaster recovery following hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton, commending state response efforts. He acknowledged Cainnon Gregg of Pelican Oyster Co., who is set to receive grant funds after hurricane damage.

The governor concluded by urging collaboration with legislative leaders Speaker Perez and President Albritton to continue advancing shared goals for Florida’s future.
