Governor Ron DeSantis has proposed the 2025-2026 Focus on Fiscal Responsibility budget, which emphasizes investments in workforce development, economic growth, and infrastructure readiness. This initiative is aimed at benefiting job seekers, job creators, and Florida taxpayers.

Industry leaders have expressed their support for the budget recommendations. Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, praised the plan to eliminate the Florida-only business rent tax. “Every dollar in tax savings is money that Florida’s local businesses could be spending to hire new employees,” he stated.

Beth Cicchetti from the Florida Economic Development Council highlighted the budget’s role in enhancing Florida’s appeal as a business destination. She remarked on its importance in a competitive global economy.

Greg Britton of the Florida Small Business Development Center Network commended Governor DeSantis for supporting small businesses through his recommended budget. He noted that it continues to demonstrate investment in small business success.

Carol Dover from the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association applauded the governor’s commitment to tourism and hospitality. She emphasized that eliminating the business rent tax would foster economic growth.

Scott Shalley of the Florida Retail Federation appreciated the governor’s support for families and retail industries by extending tax holidays and reducing taxes.

Kevin Carr from FloridaMakes recognized DeSantis’ efforts to promote manufacturing within the state. He looked forward to further collaboration on initiatives like ‘Made in Florida.’

Michael Simas of the Florida Council of 100 expressed confidence in achieving a favorable budget for economic development through cooperation between state leadership and legislators.

Kelly Smallridge from Palm Beach County’s Business Development Board supported targeted investments that promise economic strengthening and improved quality of life for residents.

Adrienne Johnston from CareerSource Florida emphasized workforce development as key to economic growth. She mentioned increased funding for broadband expansion as crucial for businesses and job seekers.

Rob Long from Space Florida acknowledged proactive leadership making Florida a leader in aerospace industry support through infrastructure investments like wastewater treatment improvements.

Dana Young from VISIT FLORIDA expressed gratitude for continued support of tourism, highlighting its significance as a travel destination due to natural beauty and vibrant communities.

Angie Sellers from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation appreciated funding commitments expected to create multifamily rental units and assist first-time homebuyers while projecting significant economic impact statewide.
