On September 26, 2023, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced its intention to reinstate net neutrality guidelines. This decision has drawn criticism from various quarters.

“Despite years of increasing broadband speeds, falling prices, and significant private sector investment, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has today announced its misguided intention to reinstate net neutrality guidelines,” stated Dr. Edward Longe, Director of the Center for Technology and Innovation at The James Madison Institute. “The Commission’s move today is a solution in search of a problem that will only disrupt efforts here in Florida and across the country to close the digital divide and bring affordable broadband to every American.”

Dr. Longe further commented on the implications of this decision: “In one fell swoop, the FCC has undone five years of progress. Unfortunately, every Floridian will be left paying the price with higher rates and poorer services.”
