The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) has awarded Louisiana State Senator Blake Miguez the title of 2024 “Legislator of the Year.” This accolade recognizes his efforts in pursuing reforms within Louisiana. Senator Miguez has been acknowledged for his work on legislation that aims to preserve the rule of law by banning sanctuary cities and maintaining election integrity through a ban on ranked-choice voting. Additionally, he introduced a bill to implement work requirements for able-bodied adults in the state’s food stamp program.
“Sen. Miguez is a strong conservative leader willing to tackle tough and important issues around illegal immigration, election integrity, and welfare reform,” stated Tarren Bragdon, President and CEO of FGA. He further expressed confidence in Miguez’s leadership abilities, saying it would help improve living conditions in Louisiana.
The “Legislator of the Year” award from FGA honors national leaders who promote policies reducing barriers to work and fostering self-sufficiency.
