Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution has brought charges against Jeffrey Luke Crane, who is currently on probation, for voter fraud. Crane is accused of voting by an unqualified elector and making a false affirmation by knowingly participating in the 2022 General Election despite being a convicted felon. His past convictions include aggravated fleeing with injury or damage, resisting an officer with violence, failing to stop or remain at a crash scene involving injury, and driving under the influence.

“Ensuring the integrity of our elections is important to safeguarding our republican form of government,” stated Attorney General James Uthmeier. “This defendant knowingly participated in the 2022 election as a felon on probation, and our Statewide Prosecutors will hold him accountable for this criminal action.”

The law enforcement investigation revealed that Crane had signed a Florida Department of Corrections probation form, recognizing he was not permitted to vote until his probation was completed. Despite this, he admitted to voting and acknowledged signing the probation form. Crane also received a letter from the Supervisor of Elections confirming his ineligibility to vote.

Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Sophia Birriel-Sanchez is assigned to handle the case.
