The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has announced that Massy Distribution USA, a distributor of grocery and retail products, has joined Northeast Florida’s Foreign Trade Zone No. 64. The inclusion in this federally designated area provides cost-saving options for importers.

Massy Distribution, based in Miami, operates a 170,000-square-foot facility near JAXPORT. This facility handles logistics services and retail distribution for consumer products and groceries in the U.S. and Caribbean. The company utilizes JAXPORT for importing and exporting containerized cargo, including refrigerated goods to the Caribbean.

By activating its facility within the FTZ, Massy Distribution’s Jacksonville warehouse can benefit from deferring, reducing, or eliminating U.S. Customs duties on imported goods.

“We are pleased to continue to grow our partnership with Massy Distribution by welcoming them into FTZ No. 64,” said Robert Peek, JAXPORT Chief Commercial Officer. “Activating in the FTZ allows the company to streamline transportation and logistics costs while taking advantage of Jacksonville’s enhanced connectivity to Caribbean markets.”

Foreign Trade Zones operate as areas outside U.S. Customs territory for duty purposes under U.S. Customs and Border Protection supervision. FTZ No. 64 functions under the Alternative Site Framework (ASF), enabling warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturers within the service area to access FTZ benefits while maintaining operations at their existing facilities.

“The U.S. Foreign-Trade Zones program promotes economic growth and development throughout the U.S.,” stated Justin Ryan, JAXPORT FTZ Manager. “The FTZ is designed to help companies like Massy Distribution expand their business and support local jobs.”

FTZ No. 64 covers ten counties in Northeast Florida: Eastern Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam, and St. Johns counties. Companies within this area wishing to utilize FTZ benefits must apply through JAXPORT and receive federal approval from the FTZ Board—a process typically completed in less than 60 days.
