Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a new bill aimed at expanding healthcare access for residents in rural and agricultural areas of the state. The legislation, known as SB Bill 480, Nonprofit Agricultural Organization Medical Benefit Plans, seeks to provide affordable and personalized health care plans for Floridians who lack insurance or face high costs.

Jeb Smith, President of the Florida Farm Bureau Federation, expressed support for the legislation. “Access to affordable healthcare is essential to the well-being of our state’s farmers and ranchers. This vital legislation ensures that the people who provide food for our state and nation can now better care for themselves and their families,” he stated.

Smith also acknowledged key figures involved in the legislative process. “We are extremely grateful for Governor DeSantis, Sen. Nick DiCeglie, Rep. JJ Grow and the entire Florida Legislature for recognizing the needs of our rural communities,” he added.

The bill’s introduction highlights ongoing efforts to address healthcare challenges faced by those living in rural parts of Florida.
