PortMiami is preparing to host MSC World America, MSC Cruises’ newest and largest ship, set to debut in May. This ship, part of the World Class series, will homeport at MSC’s newly constructed and world-leading cruise terminal in Miami.

The MSC World America stands out with its 22 decks, a gross tonnage of 216,638, and features including 19 dining establishments and 18 bars. In addition, there is an outdoor adventure space complete with a water park, ropes course, and a swing named Cliffhanger. Notably, this is the first ship of its class to be assigned to North American routes.

The unveiling of the new terminal in Miami was celebrated by MSC Cruises, emphasizing its capacity to manage up to three ships simultaneously and facilitate the movement of 36,000 passengers daily. It also includes a parking facility for 2,400 vehicles.

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s cruise division, stated, “Our new cruise terminal is the most advanced in the world, designed to offer a seamless experience for our guests before and after their cruise, setting a new benchmark for the industry.” He further noted the company’s long-standing commitment to Miami, highlighting their two-decade partnership with the city.

This new terminal complements other recently modernized terminals in Miami, which serve major lines such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Carnival, and Virgin Voyages. A significant feature of the four-story terminal is its integration with shore power systems, developed in partnership with Florida Power & Light, allowing ships to shut down engines while docked.

The new facility will host four MSC ships throughout the year and the luxury brand Explora Journeys’ Explora I returns to Miami in November. MSC’s fleet has expanded to 23 ships, ranking it as the third-largest cruise line globally, following Carnival and Royal Caribbean.
