FloridaCommerce has reported that the Orlando metro area achieved the highest increase in private sector jobs over the year as of January 2025 among all metro areas. The region saw an addition of 28,600 jobs, marking a 2.1% rise. Notably, Orlando led job gains in leisure and hospitality with 7,500 new positions, financial activities with 3,000 jobs, and professional and business services with 2,400 jobs.

The labor force in Orlando grew by 33,385 individuals or 2.2% over the year. The unemployment rate for January was recorded at 3.6%, which is a slight increase from the previous year’s rate of 3.2%.

Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted Florida’s labor force surpassing 11.1 million in January 2025 as evidence of the state’s robust economic standing. Job growth was observed across most major industries including manufacturing, which reached employment levels of 430,800.

Revised data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Florida’s labor force has been consistently larger than initially estimated by an upward revision of 162,000 workers. This revised data indicates that Florida’s labor force either grew or remained stable for ten out of the last twelve months.

Statewide job additions amounted to 113,600 over the year by January 2025—a growth rate of 1.3%, slightly above the national rate of 1.2%. Since May 2020, employers have increased their workforce in most months out of a total period extending to nearly five years.

Among various sectors, education and health services experienced notable job growth with an increase of 7,200 positions from December to January (+0.5%), followed closely by leisure and hospitality adding another 6,100 jobs (+0.5%).
