Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that Phuc Minh Tran, a 38-year-old resident of Lehigh Acres, was found guilty on 40 counts related to the possession of child sexual abuse materials. The conviction was secured by the Office of Statewide Prosecution after a week-long jury trial in Fort Myers.
Tran’s arrest followed an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). On August 15, 2024, FDLE officers executed a search warrant at Tran’s home after cyber investigators identified that child sexual abuse material had been downloaded at his residence. Tran was taken into custody at the scene.
Following the trial, Tran was convicted on all charges, which are classified as second-degree felonies for possession, control, or intentional viewing of child pornography. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 22 and could face up to 600 years in prison.
“This predator is facing decades behind bars, which is right where he belongs,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Deputy Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Julie Chaikin and Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Agnieszka Thomas, this monster is off the streets and away from our children.”
