PortMiami achieved a significant milestone on February 8, 2025, by hosting a record-breaking ten cruise ships in one day. The vessels included Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Magic and Carnival Sunrise, Holland America’s Zaandam, MSC Cruises’ MSC Seascape, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Gem, Oceania Cruises’ Sirena, Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas and Independence of the Seas, and Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady. These ships collectively brought nearly 68,000 passengers to the port.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava commented on this achievement: “It is no surprise PortMiami and the cruise industry continue to break records. PortMiami is the departure choice for all major cruise lines. As a destination, Miami-Dade is undoubtedly the center of world cruise tourism with incredible weather, culture and unlimited options for exciting experiences.”

The year 2025 promises an array of new cruise ships arriving at PortMiami. Notable entries include Cunard Queen Anne in January, MSC Cruises MSC World America in April, Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Aqua also in April, Royal Caribbean International Wonder of the Seas in August, Cunard Queen Elizabeth in October, Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady also in October, and Oceania Cruises Allura in November.

In addition to these developments, PortMiami marked another milestone with the launch of shore power on June 17, 2024. This innovation allows docked cruise ships to connect to landside electrical power instead of using their engines. This advancement aims to reduce emissions and noise pollution. The initiative is a collaboration between Miami-Dade County and several major cruise companies including Carnival Corporation & plc., MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Royal Caribbean Group, Virgin Voyages as well as Florida Power & Light Company. With this development, PortMiami becomes the first major U.S. eastern seaboard port offering shore power capability at five berths.
