The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is organizing multiple public meetings, both in-person and online, to discuss the regulation and management of oyster harvesting in Florida. These discussions will include consideration of Apalachicola Bay regulations. Key topics include licensing requirements, bag limits, seasons, tolerance levels for various oyster sizes, enforcement protocols, and measurement modifications for harvested oysters.
The workshops will take place as follows: Apalachicola on April 15, Pensacola on April 16, Cedar Key on April 22, St. Augustine on April 29, online on May 1, and Apalachicola again on June 3. Another online session is scheduled for June 5. The engagements will happen from 6-8 p.m. at designated local venues, with the final Apalachicola location to be announced later.

The feedback collected will assist staff in forming recommendations for proposed oyster management rules, which will be considered during the Commission’s August 2025 meeting.
