The Second Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announced on May 12 that it has selected six nominees for the vacancy on the Second Judicial Court bench following the elevation of Judge Lance Neff to the First District Court of Appeal. Governor Ron DeSantis requested that the commission provide him with highly qualified candidates for consideration by May 23.

This development is important as it will determine who fills a key judicial position in the Second Judicial Circuit, which serves an essential role in handling legal matters and ensuring access to justice in its jurisdiction.

After conducting interviews and deliberations, the commission named James A. Beville, Hon. Christopher D. Bufano, Sarah K. Dugan, C. Ian Garland, Khari James, and Andrew King as nominees for the circuit court seat.

The commission is composed of William N. Spicola (Chair), Kristina R. Osterhaus (Vice Chair), David Arthmann, Denise M. Harle, Carly A. Hermanson, Nick Meros, Tim Moore, Amanda Neff, and Jason Vail.

Governor DeSantis will review these nominations and select one candidate to fill the vacancy created by Judge Neff’s elevation.
