Diana Venturini, director of Silent Victims of Crime, said on LinkedIn that their partnership with Uber is providing rides to help Miami-Dade families access programs supporting children of incarcerated parents.

“For many children of incarcerated parents, a single moment of connection can mean the difference between feeling invisible and feeling seen,” said Venturini, according to LinkedIn. “That’s why we’re proud to partner with Uber to provide families with rides. Thanks to the partnership, we can offer Uber rides and ensure children can attend consistently, caregivers face less stress, and families stay connected to the programs that help them heal, grow, and thrive.”

According to Silent Victims of Crime, also known as Tinkerbell’s Kids, the organization focuses on children of incarcerated parents and their caregivers by providing comprehensive support such as mentorship, enrichment programming, and family-centered services. The organization emphasizes strategic partnerships to enhance access and connect families to resources that promote stability and long-term success. This is particularly crucial when transportation barriers limit participation in scheduled programming.

Silent Victims of Crime has documented its service delivery in Miami-Dade through community fundraising profiles. The organization expanded into South Florida in 2011 and has since served over 1,100 children aged 5–18. It collaborates with the federal CARE Court (Re-entry) initiative to assist 17 returning citizens and their 33 children, maintaining a focus on family stabilization alongside reentry efforts.

Transportation support is a common strategy among nonprofits to boost program participation and minimize missed appointments. In one example involving Uber-backed access efforts, LISC’s Health Access Fund reported that support from Uber and other partners resulted in 137,000 rides in a year. This initiative aims to reduce barriers to essential destinations, positioning rideshare-enabled access as a practical solution for families facing logistical challenges.

Venturini’s staff profile highlights her extensive experience in education, noting her 43 years in the field and 24 years as Executive Director of Community Engagement for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
