Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Mark Glass and leaders from several state and federal agencies will hold a press conference on April 9 to announce the results of Operation Highway Shield, a four-day statewide enforcement initiative. The event will take place at the FDLE Orlando Regional Operations Center.
Operation Highway Shield focused on commercial vehicle safety violations, criminal activity, and threats to Florida’s transportation network. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation – Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services – Office of Agriculture Law Enforcement, Florida Highway Patrol, Immigration Customs and Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, Florida Department of Children and Families, and Customs and Border Protection are scheduled to attend.
According to the media advisory released by FDLE on April 8, all interested media must RSVP before attending the event. The press conference is set for Thursday at 2:00 p.m., with media arrival starting at 1:30 p.m.
The upcoming announcement is expected to provide details about enforcement actions taken during Operation Highway Shield as well as any outcomes related to public safety or criminal investigations that resulted from this coordinated effort among multiple agencies.
