Florida Supreme Court disciplines five attorneys

Between April 29, 2024, and May 29, 2024, the Florida Supreme Court disciplined five attorneys licensed with the Florida State Bar, with one disbarment, two suspensions, and two reprimands.

Denise Gunn of Naples was disbarred immediately after a May 2023 court after which found that she failed to appropriately represent two clients in separate family law matters, with the cases failing to make progress or find a resolution as a result. Gunn also did not respond to inquiries from the Florida State Bar regarding the matter.

Scott Tully Kalisch of Tampa received a sixty day suspension and an order to attend the Florida Bar’s Ethics School. A May 2 court order ordered the suspension to begin May 10.

John Arthur Leklem of Orlando received a thirty day suspension and was ordered to attend the Florida Bar’s Trust Accounting Workshop. A May 9 court order detailed the discipline for Leklem’s failure to maintain his trust account records and mix his personal accounts with his client trust funds.

Richard Peskin received a public reprimand effective June 30 after he was found in violation of multiple New York Rules of Professional Conduct.

Scott Alan Selis of Ormond Beach received a public reprimand after a May 16 court order determined he failed to properly supervise his nonlawyer employees, which resulted in them engaging in unlicensed law practice.
