DeSantis appoints three members to the Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport Authority

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Brian Crawford, Wesley Maul, and Staci Sims to the Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport Authority. The governor is responsible for appointing three of the authority's nine members.

According to a press release by DeSantis, Crawford, a Gainesville resident, is the founder and principal of Concept Companies. He currently serves on the boards of Flagler Hospital Health Services and Lacerta Therapeutics. He obtained his college degree at Criswell Bible College.

Maul, also a Gainesville resident, owns Admiral Strategy Group. Prior to his appointment to the authority, he filled the role of director at Florida Division of Emergency Management. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics and a juris doctor from the University of Florida.

A resident of Newberry, Sims presently serves as COO for the Florida Farm Bureau Federation and is fulfilling her appointment to the Florida Commission on the Status of Women. Formerly, Sims served as Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s general counsel and director of Government and Community Affairs. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in food and resource economics and a juris doctor from the University of Florida.

According to the Gainesville Regional Airport website, the Gainesville-Alachua County Regional Airport Authority has decision-making authority over the airport’s activities, policies, and budgeting measures. Besides the three members that the governor is charged with appointing, the Gainesville City Commission appoints five members and the Alachua County Board of Commissioners appoints one member.
