FloridaCommerce has announced the availability of more than $6.5 million for eligible organizations through the Non-Custodial Parent Employment Program (NCPEP). These funds aim to assist non-custodial parents in achieving higher levels of self-sufficiency through employment and training opportunities. Eligible organizations include governmental and quasi-governmental entities, nonprofit corporations, tribal governments, and Local Workforce Development Boards.
"Under the leadership of Governor DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis, Florida is committed to elevating our workforce and building strong communities," said Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. "The NCPEP builds on the commitment Florida has already made, enabling Floridians to achieve self-sufficiency and overcome challenges that otherwise inhibit Floridians’ ability to elevate their family’s opportunities."
The funds will be administered through Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services. Applications are available on their website with a submission deadline set for Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Organizations utilizing NCPEP funds are expected to provide services to non-custodial parents who are unemployed or underemployed. The program aims to support foster family stability by offering training and resources such as job search assistance, resume building, parenting skills development, financial literacy education, among others. Additionally, participating organizations must report program outputs, outcomes, challenges, and successes.
