James Madison Institute's Sal Nuzzo departs after a decade

After ten years of service at The James Madison Institute (JMI), Sal Nuzzo is departing for a new opportunity. Nuzzo has accepted the role of Executive Director at Consumers Defense, a 501(c)(4) policy and advocacy non-profit organization. He will begin his new position on March 1st and will be based in Tallahassee while working across the United States.

Nuzzo has been instrumental in leading JMI’s policy operations, coalition building, and strategy deployment over the past decade. His contributions have significantly impacted JMI's success and helped position Florida as a model of freedom nationwide.

During his tenure at JMI, Nuzzo was appointed twice by Governor Ron DeSantis to serve on Florida’s Government Efficiency Task Force. He also served on the State Consumer Health Information and Policy Council under former Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Simone Marstiller, chaired the Communications and Technology Task Force for the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), and acted as one of Florida’s Coalition Leads for Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform. His writings have appeared in various publications including The Wall Street Journal, National Review, The Hill, and Newsweek.

The James Madison Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to limited government, economic freedom, federalism, individual liberty coupled with individual responsibility. It conducts research on issues such as criminal justice reform, health care policy, tax policies, and regulatory environments.
