Florida small business owners advocate in DC against transparency act

A group of Florida small business owners, led by NFIB State Executive Director Bill Herrle and Legislative Director Tim Nungesser, visited Washington as part of the 2024 NFIB Fly-In. The delegation met with several Florida lawmakers to discuss issues such as repealing the Corporate Transparency Act and preserving the 20% Small Business Deduction.

Senator Rick Scott engaged with NFIB members on these topics. "Today, @SenRickScott took time to speak with #NFIB members about saving the #SmallBusinessDeduction and repealing Beneficial Ownership registry requirements that impact millions of Americans nationwide," stated an NFIB tweet.

Representative Cory Mills also discussed these concerns with the group. "@RepMillsPress discussed saving the 20% #SmallBusinessDeduction and repealing the Corporate Transparency Act with #NFIB members," another tweet from NFIB noted.

Additionally, Representative Greg Steube met with the business owners to hear their priorities. "Rep. Steube met with #NFIB members and heard why saving the #SmallBusinessDeduction and repealing the Corporate Transparency Act are top priorities," read a tweet from June 12.

Congressman Matt Gaetz was among those who listened to NFIB's advocacy points. "Congressman Gaetz met with #NFIB members and heard why saving the #SmallBusinessDeduction and repealing the Corporate Transparency Act are top priorities," according to another post by NFIB.

Representative Daniel Webster also participated in discussions about these legislative issues. "@RepWebster for speaking with #NFIB members about saving the #SmallBusinessDeduction and repealing the Corporate Transparency Act to help #smallbusiness," tweeted NFIB.

Representative Mike Waltz echoed similar sentiments during his meeting. "Rep. Mike Waltz met with #NFIB members and heard why saving the #SmallBusinessDeduction and repealing the Corporate Transparency Act are top priorities," an additional tweet reported.

Representative Byron Donalds engaged in conversations regarding how these legislative measures affect small businesses. "#NFIB members met with Rep. Byron Donalds to discuss how the #SmallBusinessDeduction and Beneficial Ownership affect #smallbiz," shared another tweet from June 12.

Finally, Representative Aaron Bean spoke on maintaining key deductions for small businesses during his session with NFIB members. "#NFIB members spoke with Rep. Aaron Bean about the importance of saving the 20% #SmallBusinessDeduction."

"The NFIB Fly-In is a great opportunity for our members to visit Washington and engage with their members of Congress,” said Herrle.

“NFIB is the voice of small business, but when our members are in the room with members of the Florida delegation, it really helps our voice be heard,” added Nungesser.
