Coalition urges support for SAVE Act amid concerns over election security

On May 31, 2024, a coalition expressed strong support for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act in a letter addressed to Speaker Johnson and Republican Leader McConnell. The letter criticizes President Biden's immigration policies, stating that "as many as 10 million illegal aliens have entered the country" since he took office. The coalition argues that while it is unlawful for non-citizens to vote, there is currently no mechanism to enforce this law.

The letter emphasizes the importance of secure elections for maintaining public confidence in the electoral system. It states, "If the American people don’t have confidence in the system—or think that non-citizens will cancel out their ballot—they won’t vote." The coalition believes that ensuring only eligible voters participate in elections will increase voter engagement and uphold the integrity of the constitutional republic.

The coalition also highlights concerns about election security, noting that allowing millions of non-citizens into the country without explicitly prohibiting them from registering to vote raises valid concerns. They argue that addressing these issues is crucial for maintaining public trust in election outcomes.
