Florida ports see leadership changes and new services

It has been said that everything good and magical happens between the months of June and August. For Florida’s system of seaports, there are many positive developments occurring.

Joseph Morris has been named the new port director at Port Everglades. Additionally, berth renovations on Port Canaveral North Cargo Berth 4 are progressing well, and Ocean Network Express's (ONE) new West India North America container service has begun calling on JAXPORT.

Critical commodities such as food, fuel, and healthcare supplies continue to flow into Florida’s seaports, ensuring that Floridians receive the products they need daily. Florida’s seaports play a crucial role in the supply chain, not only for Floridians but also for neighbors in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. For instance, among SeaPort Manatee’s top five imports are fruit and vegetable juices, bananas, and plantains.

"This is a message I’ll share later this month with transportation thought leaders at the 2024 Transportation Summer Camp," stated an official communication. "We’re seizing the opportunity to make Florida’s supply chain solutions America’s seaport destination."

The latest edition of their newsletter provides further details about ongoing developments within Florida’s system of seaports.
